Solomon Islands rebel leader Harold Keke has been sentenced to life in jail for the murder of a priest on the Weathercoast in 2002.
You may remember Keke being mentioned in this article about the murders of some franciscan brothers. It’s good to see that they are progressing with sentencing many of the criminals involved in the what would you call it – ‘tensions’.
The future of the Solomons is still unclear, the origins of the tension in the first place was around money becoming scarce after the country stopped logging which was it’s major export. If they had continued logging, the countries rainforests would have been devestated but now the economy is devestated. The plans for restoring the economy and finding export markets are still unclear.
